Once, within this narrow street west of Melaka river, stood six shop-houses where various families, each with different backgrounds resided in Jalan Tokong. Sometime before 1939, the families left their homes and their shop-houses were renovated and transformed into a mansion for a single family. Fast forward to now, the 21st century, this pre war structure experienced a rebirth, like a phoenix, it has risen once again from the ashes. Reborn as Liu Men.

Fast forward to now, the 21st century, this pre war structure experienced a rebirth, like a phoenix, it has risen once again from the ashes. Reborn as Liu Men.
Liu Men means “six doors”. The number Six, or (六, LIÙ), not just a literal translation, but it also holds a special meaning to the Chinese community. Symbolising a smooth journey and travel, and this is one of the reasons behind the name.
Within it’s clear white walls, one finds the perfect harmonic balance between East and West. Walking further into the interior of Liu Men, you will discover the 1930s colonial art deco influences. These bold shapes are added with a distinctly Eastern twist of the vibrant reds symbolising joy or luck, all of them are part of the Chinese Peranakan culture. Where everything gravitates around family and its deep connection to one another. Greeting you with arms wide open. And honouring every guest with warmth and friendliness that will put everyone directly at ease.
Like coming back to that familiar corner of your own home.
